6th Annual Rally For A Cure Raises OVER $7,000!!
The Links at Brigantine Beach hosted its 6th Annual Rally For A Cure Golf Tournament on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. The highly anticipated event is held to raise much needed dollars for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Founded in 1996, the Rally For A Cure with Golf for Women Magazine has raised awareness of breast cancer and carried the life-saving message of early detection to hundreds of thousands of active women. This year’s event drew a solid field of 140 golfers on a hot, yet perfect “links” summer day. However, the heat seemed to have no effect on the winning team of Brian Pruitt, James Wilkinson, Greg Smallwood and Dennis Morey as they shot an unstoppable 15 under par. After a close comparison of scorecards at 10 under par, the second place spot went to the team of Tony Sentore, Mike Chisholm, Carl Swanback and Grandpa Dan. While the team of Deb Larkin, Butch Sneade, Carla Washinko and Pat Sheriden took home third place honors with an almost matched 10 under par. Each winning team was awarded a foursome from area golf courses. In addition to the placement awards, prizes were awarded for closest to the pin and long drive contests. However, the friendly competition of an auctioned 1980-autographed Phillies World Series ball stole the show and wrapped up another successful year. As this event seemed to have flown passed again we must stop and thank all of the sponsors, tournament participants, friends, family and staff members for helping bring the 6-year total well over the $30,000 milestone. Mark your 2009 calendars – the event is scheduled for another return visit on Tuesday, July 21, 2009.
